Wouldn’t you be pissed if you gave the winning lotto ticket to someone as a gift?

I mean, come on. Weren’t you hoping it would’ve been a dud? Just hope that the winner gives you a percentage of the winnings as a thank you.

I gave my family (4 people, including myself) 1 ticket each. They’re not up yet.

If someone gave me a winning lotto ticket and say I won 5 million, I would probably give them around 25,000

Perhaps you should have bought them a “regular gift” . . . .

My sister gave my granddaughter (who is 9) a lotto ticket last night. She won 500 bucks…and my grandson won 100. Paula (my sister) won nothing. But that is the fun of lotto’s. You don’t know.

I think it is a gamble..and you know you are giving it away. When you give it away you kiss it goodbye…and wish the givEE good luck.

Be happy for them…it isn’t yours anymore…why should you get a percentage unless you STIPULATED IT! Would YOU give it up if someone gave it to YOU?

I know I would give the givee some of it…just to say Thanks…but most of it is MINE! My sister and I went to play bingo a few years back. That night she won 1500 bucks and a couple hours later I won 1600.

So we went to all our brothers and sisters houses and we both gave them each 100 dollars of it. It was fun and crazy and we were out til 2 AM spreading money around. :) )) It was fun! (there are five of us…) and then we gave mom and dad 300 bucks. (they are old and don’t go anywhere and there is nothing they need or do. I doubt they have spent it yet! They live with Paula…so maybe she spent it on clothes or food for them.).

i was given a winning ticket as a birthday gift one year – it was great – the £10 bought us both a drink.

If you feel that way and they’re not up yet why not just take back the gift and tell them because you are so selfish you did not get them anything.

If I were to give scratch-off tickets and they won small amounts, I’d be happy for them. If they won many thousands, I’d feel a bit jealous, and if they didn’t give me some of the winnings as a thank you, I’d be hurt and angry. But I’d still feel good about the happiness my gift brought them, especially if they really needed the money.

Now, if I were to give a Powerball ticket where they could win millions, I’d about die if they won. So the only way around that is to NOT buy a computer pick and pick the numbers myself. Then I’d buy a ticket with the same numbers for myself, so if they won, I’d win, too, and we’d split the pot. And that would be fine with me!

Give tickets with hope they will win. It would be nice if winner gave you some.

I would be pissed too. I would just hope for even just a small percentage.

No, I wouldn’t get pissed. Thats just being selfish. It was THEIR luck that they got that one and not me. If that money was intended for me and my luck, I would’ve been the one to recieve it as a gift. But out of all the tickets I could’ve bought them, they were lucky enough to get the winning one. Its all about a game of chance and if they win, lucky them. If the ticket was a dud, would you still have wanted a piece of the losing ticket? No. But how selfish, that if they won, you’d expect a percentage. Whatever happened to giving gifts just because of true generosity and sincerity?

Pissed? Hoping it would be a dud? And you are talking about your own family? What a Scrooge! You know you only gave them a gift like that because it was cheap. And even then you want to attach strings to it. Time for you to learn about the real Christmas spirit. You should be overjoyed if your stingy gift magically transformed itself into a generous one.

That’s exactly why I never give lotto tickets as gifts! It would be just my luck I would give away the winning ticket!!

Im with Mavis on this one. If I gave tickets to family members and they won, I would also feel a little jealous, but most of my family are in financial straights so I would probably be more happy for them than anything. This is the reason I never give tickets to friends/co workers. If they won big then I would feel a little jilted if they didnt share, even though I dont really have any right to expect that. It may be wrong to feel that way but its MOHO.
